How Does Encapsulation Work?
The process is involved, but it’s also simple. The first thing we’ll do is remove any insulation in the crawlspace, especially if it’s old or contaminated. Then, we’ll remediate the timbers to ensure they are uncontaminated and strong. After that, our team will install a poly moisture barrier all around the floors and walls of the crawlspace. The covering will come within two inches of the sill plate, which allows space for termite inspections.
We’ll wrap any piers in the same way, and we’ll seal around each vent with our foam board and caulk barrier. This crawlspace encapsulation will completely eliminate any moisture leaks so that your space will stay dry. Finally, we'll make sure to reinstall high-quality insulation for your crawlspace.
To top it all off, we can then install a dehumidifier for the space that can keep the humidity in your crawlspace at around 50 percent. Mold doesn’t grow in any environment that is lower than 60 percent humidity, so with all of these factors combined, your crawlspace will stay mold-free and clean. And because your crawlspace is so clean, you’ll notice an improvement in your home’s air quality as well.
